Dr. Hazem Fouda is a Sustainability and Regulatory Affairs Consultant with over 25 years of expertise in agricultural sciences, agribusiness development, and sustainable cotton production. He currently serves as a Rural Development Expert with UN-Habitat, contributing to the joint project “Modernization of Irrigation Techniques to Improve the Livelihoods of Smallholder Tenure in Upper Egypt.” His work focuses on enhancing rural livelihoods through improved irrigation, sustainable land management, and climate-resilient agricultural practices.
Throughout his career, Dr. Fouda has played a pivotal role in shaping sustainability frameworks and ensuring regulatory compliance within Egypt's cotton sector, particularly through leadership roles with UNIDO and Better Cotton (BC). He has led high-impact projects aligning national agricultural policies with international standards, facilitating licensing, certification, and stakeholder engagement across government and industry platforms.
Dr. Fouda holds a PhD in Agricultural Sciences (Agronomy - Cotton) from Alexandria University and has authored over 29 internationally published books on sustainable agriculture, irrigation technologies, and environmental stewardship. Fluent in Arabic and English, he is also an active contributor to Better Cotton Initiative’s knowledge platforms and remains committed to promoting sustainable, inclusive agricultural development across Egypt and beyond.
