This opening lecture builds a solid operational foundation for vegetable and fruit farm supervision. It covers designing an adaptable seasonal plan, drafting provisional irrigation and fertigation schedules, setting up an early‑warning pest & disease scouting system, and defining essential daily log sheets (irrigation, fertigation, pest observations, labor, inventory). Participants are introduced to early KPIs—water use efficiency, healthy plant ratios, projected loss thresholds—to shift supervision from intuition to measurable, sustainable performance. Sustainability principles and waste reduction are woven throughout to align profitability with resource stewardship.
